My emails to and from individuals/groups are bunched together.  How can I change this?

  • This is called "conversation view" and can be disabled by clicking on sort by clicking on the drop down arrow next to Arrange by: (above your emails) and selecting "off" at the bottom of the list.
  • After I set up my email on my Android phone, I began receiving text/SMS messages in my email box.  How can I fix this?
  • Select "Email" from home screen > Select "Account" that is getting the text messages > Select the "Options" menu from the bottom left of the phone > Select "More", then "Account Settings".

  • Scroll thru the account settings for an entry called "SMS sync". This should be listed in the "Server settings" section of that page. Uncheck "SMS sync". This should stop text messages from being delivered to your email account.

My signature no longer appears on my email messages.  How do I fix that?

  • You will need to recreate your email signature.
  • Click on the Gear icon in the top right corner of the web mail windows and choose options.
  • Click on the Settings option in the pane on the left then type your signature into the box that appears on the right.

How can I change the way my web mail looks?

Will I be able to access my email no matter where I am?

  • Yes. The Web Access client (OWA) in Exchange provides access to the system through a standard web browser such as Internet Explorer.  It is accessible via https://mail.ccisd.com.  The Exchange OWA is similar in most respects to the Outlook client.

I use an Apple computer at home. Will I be able to easily access Outlook from Apple devices?

  • Yes. In addition to using the Exchange Online Web Access client, Apple computers can use a program called Outlook 2011 email client.

Will Exchange/Outlook sync with my smartphone?

  • Yes. In fact, many more manufacturers provide products and services that are compatible with Exchange, so there should be greater options available. Microsoft provides a program called Windows Mobile Device Center. Windows Mobile Device Center allows a mobile device to be synchronized with either a desktop PC, or a server running Microsoft Exchange Server.  You will need to delete your existing connection and create new one, however.  Instructions can be found at the top of this page.

What's the difference between Outlook and Exchange, and why do I sometimes hear them used interchangeably?

  • Microsoft Exchange is the email and calendaring system, and includes the components that send, receive, and store email and calendar data. Microsoft Outlook is the email/calendaring client that is most often used on the computer to access the Exchange system. Exchange is also accessible through a web client (allowing access through a web browser such as Internet Explorer) that is very similar to Outlook in appearance and functionality.
