Welcome to Family and Consumer Sciences.  We are going to have a lot of fun in class and begin our journey to becoming independent. We will cover many topics, including Consumer Education, Food Preparation, Nutrition and Health, and Clothing Construction.  We will also discuss Child Development and Parenting, Personal Growth and Development, and Housing and Interior Design.

 

This will be my 15th year to teach in Copperas Cove.  I received my Family and Consumer Sciences degree from Tarleton State University and have been teaching at S.C. Lee since graduation.  In May of 2004 I obtained a Master's degree in History from Tarleton as well.  We're going to have a GREAT YEAR!

 

A Word About Supplies

Supplies needed for class will include a 3-subject spiral notebook, a plain folder with pockets, and a pen or pencil.  For sewing the students will be required to provide the necessary materials for their sewing projects.  The list can be seen on the assignments page.  We will sew at the end of the school year. I will send out the supplies sheet at the beginning of the school year.  Other supply needs may come up, students will be notified of anything needed well before they are needed for class.

 

A Word About Projects

Most of our projects are lab practicals where we take our discussion in class and turn it into something edible or wearable.
