Construction Updates

Williams/Ledger Elementary School Reconstruction

The reconstruction of Williams/Ledger Elementary School follows substantial damage to the campus which occurred during heavy rains in July 2025. This project was declared an emergency by the CCISD Board of Trustees at its Aug. 12, 2025 meeting and is being funded through fund balance and the district's insurance provider.


Elementary School Playground Replacement

On December 15, 2025, the Copperas Cove ISD Board of Trustees approved the replacement of playgrounds at all five K-5 elementary campuses in Copperas Cove ISD, with each including a shade to meet modern student safety standards. These projects total $2,693,185.68 and will be paid for out of Fund Balance.

These projects are on track to be completed ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

 

Bulldawg Stadium Track Resurfacing

The Board of Trustees approved the resurfacing and repair of the track at Bulldawg Stadium at their February 3, 2026 regular meeting at a cost of $415,700.00 from fund balance. After the track was removed following the conclusion of the Track & Field Season, additional repairs to the asphalt underneath the track. Those additional repairs were approved by the Board of Trustees on April 27, 2026 at a cost of $180,170.00 from fund balance. Both portions of the project are being completed by ProTech Track & Tennis and the project is projected to be complete in the Summer of 2026.


Outdoor Venue Lighting

The lighting at outdoor venues across Copperas Cove ISD sustained damage during hail storms and was not working to an effective level. The replacement of the existing lighting at all outdoor facilities with LED lighting was approved by the Board of Trustees on May 12, 2026, with Symmetry Sports Construction for a total cost of $707,250.00. The district is working to recover the money from its insurance company, with the contract approved pay out of fund balance.


Hanke Field Track Replacement

The Board of Trustees approved the resurfacing and repair of the track at Hanke Field, located at S.C. Lee Jr. High, at their March 23, 2026 regular meeting at a cost of $297,904 from fund balance. The project is being completed by ProTech Track & Tennis and the project is projected to be complete in time for the 2026-27 school year.
