Menus for Copperas Cove ISD are designed locally through the Child Nutrition Service’s Menu Committee, surveys and our Student Nutritional Advisory Committee (SNAC). All menu items are analyzed for nutritional content by Nutrikids Nutrient Analysis software. Menu items are analyzed for calories, sodium, fat, saturated fat, trans fats, cholesterol, carbohydrates and Vitamins A and C.
For breakfast, Child Nutrition Services (CNS) proudly offers our Start Right Breakfast ! The Start Right Breakfast options have been designed with student's health in mind and have been added to enhance our daily variety of healthy breakfast choices. Along with the Start Right Breakfast, CNS offers a low-fat milk variety, 100% juices, whole grain breads and cereals, all of which are served daily. Students have the option to select or decline milk; however, we encourage our students to select milk due to the nutritional benefits it provides children.
For lunch, students are offered a variety of entrée selections and side items that make up their meal. Entrée items such as fresh green salads and baked potatoes are offered regularly along with a variety of other options. Students may select or decline milk; however, we encourage students to select milk due to the nutritional benefits it provides children. In order for a meal to be considered complete (to receive NSLP benefits based on approved eligibility), the student must select a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6-7 of the components offered on that day’s menu (incomplete breakfast/lunches are subject to ala carte pricing.) One of the items selected must be a fruit or a vegetable. For example, a hamburger, fresh apple and milk count as 4 components since the hamburger consists of both the meat item and the grain item, that's 2, the fresh apple makes 3 and the milk makes 4.
Fresh and canned fruits, fresh and canned vegetables, whole grain bread and low-fat milk varieties are offered with all lunches.
Fruit & vegetable choices may include: fresh apples, fresh bananas, mixed fruit, fresh oranges, peaches, pineapple, fruited gelatin, pears, tossed green salads, pinto beans, broccoli bites, steamed carrots, seasoned peas, fresh carrot sticks, fresh celery sticks, seasoned green beans, spinach, potatoes, corn, & much more!
