COPPERAS COVE – Copperas Cove High School has earned prestigious recognition in its work to prepare students for exciting lives after graduation.
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has recognized CCHS as a 2025-26 My Texas Future School of Excellence, one of only three schools in Texas to earn this award. This award signifies the campus’ commitment to supporting students through the My Texas Future platform.
“We put intentional work into ensuring our students are actively exploring their futures every day, whether that’s through career discovery, college research or planning their next steps after high school,” said CCISD Director of Secondary Counseling and Post-Secondary Readiness Amy Trimm. “Our counselors have used My Texas Future as a powerful tool to help students see what’s possible and guide them toward success. This recognition as a My Texas Future School of Excellence is truly something we are proud of.”
Through the My Texas Future platform, CCHS students are able to use the platform in order to research what credentials and steps are required for them to achieve their goals, whether that’s schooling, apprenticeships, or any other qualifications which they’ll need to obtain.
Copperas Cove High School has seen two consecutive graduating classes graduate at 98% or more College, Career & Military Ready, as outlined by the Texas Education Agency. The 2026 graduating class is projecting to become the third consecutive class at that mark.
“When parents make The Cove Choice, they’re choosing a district which is focused on preparing their students for an exciting career, regardless of whether they choose to attend a four-year college or university,” said CCISD Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “We know most of our students want to pursue skills, crafts and trades, and this tool helps us serve every one of our Bulldawgs. I am proud of our high school counseling team for taking such a practical and innovative approach to ensuring our students is ready for an exciting future after high school, and I look forward to seeing their continued impact in this area.”
The use of My Texas Future runs alongside other efforts in CCISD which help prepare students for careers, including the district’s dual credit and early college program, which not only allows students to earn multiple associate degrees, collegiate credits in various Career & Technical Education programs or one of several industry certifications.
In Career & Technical Education, CCISD remains the area’s leader in career programs. With more than 50 state-recognized industry-based certifications available, Cove students are able to begin exploring their career interests through course work in middle school.
“This School of Excellence acknowledgement is especially meaningful to our district because it ties directly to our goal of increasing College, Career and Military Readiness,” Trimm said. “It affirms the that the work our counselors, educators and academic advisers are doing is making a real difference, not just for today, but for our students’ futures and the communities they will serve.”
