COPPERAS COVE – Copperas Cove ISD has taken steps to continue ensuring responsibility to taxpayers.

Monday evening, the Copperas Cove ISD Board of Trustees approved renewing the district’s participation in purchasing cooperatives designed to help districts be stretch their community’s tax dollars further.

“We are committed to taking great care in our purchasing efforts and ensuring our community’s tax dollars are used in a manner most beneficial to students,” said Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “While our district has long participated in these purchasing cooperatives, our trustees’ approval tonight make sure we can continue to maximize value in the purchases our district has to make.”

In addition to approving a renewal list of 16 cooperatives which have already worked toward this goal in CCISD, trustees approved the district joining the 1Government Procurement Alliance.

In addition, trustees approved the purchase of 60 new smart charging carts for use with the new Chromebooks purchased for students across the district, continuing an effort to improve the technology infrastructure for students and staff, alike.

“This aligns with our district’s updated technology standards, protecting the investment our community and trustees have made in devices while providing every classroom with consistently ready-to-use technology, which is crucial in a modern classroom,” Dr. Hawkins said. “By adding these carts, we are not only organizing and security the new Chromebooks, but also making sure they remain dependable instructional tools for years to come.”

The trustees also welcomed the City of Copperas Cove when Mayor Dan Yancey issued a proclamation to celebrate National Principal Appreciation Month and approved an out-of-state trip request for the Pride of Cove Band’s directors to attend the Midwest Clinic International Orchestra Conference in Chicago, in order to help the band program take the next step both in marching and concert seasons.
