Minus earns recognition from UTeach Professional Development

COPPERAS COVE – A Bulldawg educator has earned statewide recognition for her excellence in creating a blended classroom which combines traditional, proven teaching methods and new-age technology.

Williams/Leger Elementary School 3rd-grade teacher Jyssica Minus was recognized by UTeach Professional Development as its Blended Educator of the Week on Sept. 10th.

“This year, I’m taking on a new prep with 3rd-grade ELAR and Social Studies, and adjusting to departmentalization for the first time,” Minus told UTeach. “I’m Technology Applications certified and love finding practical ways to use technology in the classroom. I’m excited for the new challenge and looking forward to continuing to grow this year.”

Minus was recently invited to a UTeach session with other educators from across Texas to collaborate and design innovative learning experiences.

Minus has a track record of excellence in instruction, including in integrating practical digital tools to enhance student outcomes in the classroom.

“There is a reason Ms. Minus has earned a Master Teacher designation through Teacher Incentive Allotment, placing her among the highest-performing teachers in Texas,” said Deputy Superintendent for Instructional Services Dr. Amanda Crawley. “Ms. Minus embodies everything it means to be a Bulldawg, where we focus on positive student outcomes. She is beyond deserving of this recognition and I look forward to seeing everything she is able to accomplish moving forward.”

Minus earned her Master Teacher designation in 2025. In addition to her traditional teacher certifications, Minus holds a Technology Applications certification, providing her state accreditation in incorporating digital tools with proven, traditional teaching methods.

UTeach Professional Development is an arm of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Natural Sciences which works with more than 4,000 Texas educators to incorporate blended learning into classrooms. This program offers teachers the chance to learn blended learning techniques which are tailored toward their subject areas, and which include data-driven approaches to enhance student outcomes.
