This week, the CCHS BBQ Club held a small tailgate for members of the Golden Dawgs to take part in before attending a Bulldawg baseball game as a group. Students in the club made the rubs, smoked the meats and made the sauce and everybody was happy!

Thursday, during a special meeting, the CCISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved former Bulldawg assistant coach Rodney Southern as the Dawgs' next Head Football Coach/Boys Athletic Director.

Congratulations to Liam Grimes, the latest "Books and Beyond" reader at Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy! He has successfully reached his goal of reading 300 books at home and earned his "I Love to Read" shirt.

Hettie Halstead hosted Career Week on its campus, allowing students the opportunity to learn about a multitude of career options from the medical field to the military and public service.

Do you have questions or concerns about your child's development or learning? CCISD's next Child Find Roundup is on April 9th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the District Training Facility.

Ms. Cooper's class at Mae Stevens Early Learning had a lot of fun in their recent visit to the literacy center, learning about Bubba the Cowboy Prince, a twist on the classic tale, Cinderella.



Thanks to a grant from the Copperas Cove Education Foundation, students at Copperas Cove Jr. High are learning how to make digital art on drawing tablets that plug in to their laptops.

House Creek Elementary counselor Christina Valdez recently went to the Texas Counseling Association's Advocacy Day at the State Capitol in Austin, visiting with representatives and their staffs about concerns and to celebrate successes during the ongoing legislative session.

Mae Stevens Early Learning recently hosted a "Dad's Visit to School" day, where fathers had the chance to visit their student's classrooms and learn about their daily experience at school.

CCHS Senior Nayyab Khan was awarded as Youth of the Quarter by the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove at last week's meeting.

Earlier this semester, students at Martin Walker Elementary were able to trade their honey money, earned through the school's positive behavior incentive program, for a black light dance in the gym and everybody had a great time!
