students on the dance team by the bleachers

The All-State performance at January’s Texas Dance Educators Association Convention will have a Copperas Cove flare.

Annilyn Rowberry, a member of the Copperas Cove High School Copperettes, has been named an All-State dancer by the organization.

“She truly represents the excellence that our school strives for in both academics and extracurricular activities,” Copperettes director Antonia Parrish-Brooks said.

Rowberry, a four-year member of the Copperettes, is the first TDEA All-State dancer from CCHS.

“Being able to go to TDEA as an All-State dancer is something I have wanted to do since I joined the team,” Rowberry said. “The thing I am most looking forward to is the connection opportunities. College dance team coaches come from all over the state of Texas to recruit and to bridge the gap from high school to college dance. I am so thankful for this opportunity to represent Cove and to gain more experience in the dance world.”

The Texas Dance Educators Association Convention in January is scheduled to be held in Houston and includes professional choreography sessions wither former head dance coach at UT-Austin Kali Boyd and workshops for All-State awardees. There are about 200 spots available, which dancers across the state compete for.

“This achievement reflects the dedication of our talented students, the support of our dedicated instructors and the commitment of our school to fostering and showcasing exceptional talent,” Parrish-Brooks said. “This is a moment of pride, not only for Annilyn, but also for our entire school community.”
