COPPERAS COVE – Tuesday, the Copperas Cove ISD Board of Trustees approved a step in more efficient safety & security operations.
The board approved the addition of services from Raptor Technologies that will aid in crisis communications, work with other district security tools and help the district in reunification efforts.
“These additional tools are ones we hope we never have to use,” said Dr. Damon Adams, Assistant Superintendent for Operations & Support. “But in the event the worst happens, these will help us operate as efficiently as possible in getting each student home with their families as soon and as safely as possible.”
CCISD already utilizes Raptor to sign visitors in to district facilities, scanning a government-issued ID to conduct a background check and keep district facilities as safe as possible.
These services will continue to serve in line with the existing visitor policy, which can be found in the district’s Student Code of Conduct.
“This measure approved by the board will take another step in ensuring the safety of students and staff across our district,” said Dr. Joe Burns, Superintendent of Schools. “Safety is our top priority and something we don’t take lightly. We hope our community sees the efforts we make to always improve our processes in protecting students and staff on campuses.”
Additionally, the Board approved a submission for the Instructional Materials Allotment from the Texas Education Agency, which would aid in purchasing instructional materials in CCISD for the 2024-25 school year. The Board also approved the District of Innovation Play Revisions and Renewal for the 2024-25 school year.
The Board of Trustees is next scheduled to meet in May. Its regular workshop is scheduled for Noon on May 13th with its regular meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. the following day. Both meetings will be held in the Board Room at the District Service & Training Center, located at 408 South Main Street.
