COPPERAS COVE – A CCISD campus has been recognized for its bullying prevention efforts.

S.C. Lee Jr. High School was recently recognized by the Caleb Cares Foundation – led by Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams – for its work in promoting mental health awareness and empowering students to support one another.

“Our campus hosted a schoolwide parade celebrating kindness, inclusion and respect to support this initiative,” said campus counselor Kianna Childers. “As a Bears fan, myself, I’ve learned about the powerful anti-bullying initiatives the Caleb Cares Foundation. When I read about this giveaway and recognition, I knew our campus was the perfect example.”

S.C. Lee’s New Orleans-themed parade was held during “Paint the School Orange Week,” an annual CCISD initiative where campuses decorate in orange to stand up to bullying and encouraged students that “The good times roll when everyone belongs.”

“I couldn’t be more proud of our incredible counseling team and the entire SC Lee community for bringing this vision to life,” said campus principal Marshall Chauvin. “Our students and staff poured their hearts into creating an event that truly embodied kindness, inclusion, and unity. This recognition from the Caleb Cares foundation is a reflection of the positive culture we’re building together—one where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to make a difference.”

As part of the recognition, Williams awarded the campus a Chicago Bears jacket with his number for the school to display in celebration.

“Being able to display this jacket on our campus is a way for us to proudly display our commitment to caring and standing together as a campus family,” Childers said. “We are thankful for Caleb Cares’ recognition for the hard work every single one of our students and staff members puts into making S.C. Lee a welcoming environment for everybody.”

Caleb Cares is a non-profit organization focused on preventing bullying, continuing on the work Williams has done in this since graduating from Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., mentioned in Williams’ Heisman Trophy acceptance speech in December 2022.
