GALVESTON – Copperas Cove ISD continues to earn recognition for its communication efforts.

At the Texas School Public Relations Association’s annual conference in Galveston, the organization announced CCISD’s communications team earned six Star Awards on six total entries into the contest. Of those six awards, four were gold stars, one was silver and one more was bronze.

“I could not be more proud of the work our team does on a daily basis to keep our community informed of the great things which make CCISD the district of choice in central Texas,” said Director of Communications Kurtis Quillin. “Our students, parents and coworkers deserve to have our team at our best, and these awards highlight just a small sample of the work that goes into keeping our community informed. I look forward to continuing the work of spotlighting the amazing students and educators in the future.”

The communications team earned a Bronze Award in Annual Report for the district’s 2024-25 Annual Performance Report.

The team also won a Silver Award in Booklet for its 2025 Welcome to the Great Place publication for military families on Fort Hood.

Former Williams/Ledger Elementary PCOC Taylor-Marie Gormley earned a Gold Award in Photo – Academic/Classroom Subjects for a photo from a science lesson on the campus.

It won a Gold Award in Video – Marketing.

And, finally, the communications team won a Gold Award in E-Newsletter for the Hawk’s Talk Newsletter published May 9, 2025.

“Our communications team works incredibly hard to keep our community informed and to showcase the incredible students and educators in our district,” said Superintendent Dr. Brent Hawkins. “I am glad to see their work be recognized and look forward to see how they build on these awards moving forward, in order to continue serving the students and staff in Copperas Cove.”
