Schoology Conference Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips to help you if your teacher is using the Conferences app (also called Big Blue Button) in Schoology.

First, remember that Conferences will not work if you are logged in with a parent account - even if you are viewing as your student. You must be logged in AS the student (or staff member) using the Schoology for Staff and Students link.

Conferences REALLY prefers Chrome. If you’re on a Windows computer, please try using Chrome instead of Internet Explorer or Edge.

If you’re using a phone, you can’t use the Schoology app that you download from your phone's app store to access the Conference. You have to use the mobile browser. On an iPhone, that would be Safari. You can connect to the portal and login like you would on a computer.

If you’re getting a frowny face and a message that says no login information was received, try this weird little trick.

  1. Close your Schoology window and go back to the student portal.

  2. At the portal, select Office 365 and login with the same login as you do for Schoology.

  3. Leave that tab open and go back to the student portal and select the Schoology Login for Staff and Students. You should be automatically logged in and then Conferences should recognize your login information.

If you’re still having problems, go to the help menu in Schoology and message Anna Adam or Marshall Chauvin. It would be very helpful if you included a full screen image of the error message that includes the web address.
